| description: | medit/bin/Gingersnap Soda chebang=#!/usr/bin/env .wiki cont=(Formulation 4) ==Ingredients== * 5 cups water * 5 tbsp sugar * 1/4 tsp ground ginger * 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon * 1/4 tsp citric acid * 6 drops almond extract * 6 drops peppermint extract ==Recipe== Mix water, sugar, ginger and cinnamon in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, simmer on low for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 1 hour (note that it will still be quite warm after this time). Add citric acid and extracts, mix well. Separate into two 20oz bottles and refrigerate. Separate remaining solids either by straining or by pouring carefully (the solids sink, so simply pouring from the top will separate them). Carbonate, drink. Resulting soda will be pale amber in color. ==Variations== I am currently trying a variation in which I use 2 drops less almond and add 2 tbsp of "artificial vanilla flavoring" (a weak alternative to vanilla extract). |
